A modern and sustainable office building

A new workplace for 1,900 employees
It is going to be the “most modern” office building in Cologne. A pioneer in ecological and energy-efficient design, it unites architecture and nature: the new RheinEnergie administrative headquarters at “Parkgürtel” in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. On Friday, 11 June 2010, the company laid the foundation stone for the multi-building complex including offices, a customer and conference center as well as other facilities. 1,900 employees are expected to move into their new offices in late 2012.

Excelling in sustainability
As the building will use far less energy than required by the Energy Savings Ordinance currently applicable in Germany, it has been added to the European Commission Green Building Programme. Even before the launch of construction activities, RheinEnergie received its first recognition: In October 2009, the building was “gold” pre-certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). This premium recognition is awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of sustainability.

Sustainability and Facility Management Consulting provided by Intep
Intep is in charge of sustainability and facility management consulting throughout all project phases covering all measures required to achieve both DGNB gold certification as well as the targets set within the EU Green Building Programme. These measures include the use of renewable sources of energy and ecological building materials as well as the implementation of an adaptive, open, and user-friendly space concept.
