Building for the 2,000-Watt SocietyCase Studies
In November 2009 a two-week symposium was held in Zurich on “Building for the 2,000-Watt Society – State of Affairs”. An exhibition catalog has now been published which gives an insight into the concept of the “2,000-Watt Society” and provides an overview of initial projects. Intep was one of the sponsors and consultants involved in the organization of the event.

Sustainable concept
The concept of the 2,000-Watt Society is a quantitative approach which aims at reducing the consumptions of resources as well as carbon emissions per person well below current levels. Buildings account for over 40% of the total energy use and CO2 emissions, and we know ways to achieve drastic reductions in this area.
Expertise and experience at Intep
Intep has been implementing the ambitious goals of the 2,000-Watt concept in urban/ district development projects such as the Sihl-Manegg-Areal in Zurich, the S-chanf municipality or in new building projects such as the “Plus-Energy” residential building in Bennau, Switzerland, a Passive House school building in Minneapolis, and the extension of the Zurich art museum “Kunsthaus Zürich”. Please contact us for detailed information on the “2,000-Watt Society“, or learn more about the concept on our website under “Issues & Trends”.
