Compensation for CO2 emissionsOur contribution to a sustainable development
As an environmentally responsible company Intep is making an effort to reduce carbon emissions to a minimum. The measures we take in our day-to-day business include using energy efficient office appliances and public transportation for business trips. Yet, our activities inevitably cause CO2 emissions. Using the emissions calculator offered by myclimate – The Climate Protection Partnership, a non-profit foundation which ranks among the world leaders in carbon offsetting, we calculated and financially offset our carbon emissions for 2009/2010.
Compensation equals climate protection
Carbon offsetting means reducing CO2 emissions in one place of the world to compensate for those caused somewhere else, and it aims at mitigating the total emission of greenhouse gases worldwide. Myclimate uses our offsets to invest in climate protection projects especially in the developing countries which will result in a reduction of carbon emissions.
Carbon Management at Intep
About 50 % of our carbon emissions are due to mobility. The remaining 50 % include emissions from heating and power consumption in our offices, waste, waste disposal and food for our employees. Mobility includes our daily trips to and from work as well as our business trips to visit clients or events. Our carbon management aims at reducing emissions again next year. This will also pay off financially as carbon offsets account for 0.2 % of our revenue every year.
